How has Paul maintained
momentum in the majors?

Mastering the mental game

A science-based fitness routine

Paul recognized the benefits of a scientific approach early in his college career. At the Air Force Academy and LSU, he took classes in kinesiology, nutrition, and more to optimize his sleep, diet, and training to pitch at an elite level on a daily basis.

Fueling up on chicken alfredo

Pitching in the big leagues works up an appetite. On game day, Paul burns up to 6,000 calories. To fuel up, Paul eats a giant plate of chicken alfredo before every start and goes through half a jar of honey during the game.

Two hometown favorites, one common goal

The 2025 season marks the 25th season that the Pittsburgh Pirates have called PNC Park home. Opened in April 2001, the ballpark is consistently ranked as one of the best ballparks in America, thanks to constant improvements to its timeless design, beautiful views of downtown Pittsburgh, and the fan connection to the on-field action from almost any seat in the house.

The relationship between PNC Bank and the Pirates, two long-time Pittsburgh institutions, is a natural fit. “As a national bank headquartered locally, PNC has an interest in making this an A+ region,” said Lou Cestello, head of regional presidents and Pittsburgh regional president of PNC. “We have long partnered with the Pirates organization to help make Pittsburgh a vibrant city with a world-class ballpark.”
